After registering for this class, I was excited to be in an environment designated for yoga practice, but due to the current circumstances I now practice yoga in the comfort of my home. Specifically, I find a nice blanket to lay on some open space in my room and light a fragranced candle to set the tone of relaxation. Being alone, while practicing in my own space gives me a sense of freedom. There is no reason for me to feel challenged or intimidated by others' more experienced since it's just me and my virtual instructor.
Personally, this is what makes my practice space sacred. I appreciate the ability to grow at my own pace. Also, having the option to pause and continue the yoga content is helpful. In order to perfect particular positions, sometimes I need a minute to become aware of my body. Luckily my home is pretty quiet so I don't experience any interruptions or distractions. Therefore, by the end of the semester, I hope to learn how to reach a meditative state. I feel this will add to the quality of my sessions and give me the full yoga experience.
I am looking forward to practicing yoga in a studio when it is safe. Once I am more acquainted with yoga, I will be able to thoroughly embrace the face to face practice. For now, I am soaking in the remote alternative and using it to my advantage, as a beginner. As the weeks go on, I hope to find new things to incorporate into my atmosphere that'll to add to the sacredness of my bedroom sessions.

  1. what kinds of environments are created by your online instructors to make their spaces feel "sacred" or what practices are they incorporating?
